ACC + PAC
Provincial Advisory Committees (PAC)
The Atlantic Chamber of Commerce has 4 divisions called the Provincial Advisory Committee (PAC) in each Atlantic Province. These committees provide strategic counsel regarding services, policy development and advocacy initiatives.
As a member of the Atlantic Chamber of Commerce (ACC), the Digby & Area Board of Trade contributes valuable insights on provincial and business-related issues. It supports research, opinion surveys, and helps develop position statements or policy direction for the ACC.
Each Policy Advisory Committee (PAC) assists the ACC staff and Policy Committee by:
-
Identifying and providing input on provincial and regional regulatory matters
-
Addressing topics of concern to the business community
-
Offering feedback from local chambers as needed
-
Contributing to the development of position statements and policy direction.

Support for SMEs
Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) are the backbone of the Atlantic Canadian economy, they have expressed the need for support from all levels of government as the private sector endeavors to rebuild and expand the economic landscape.
Ways in which the Digby & Area Board of Trade encourages government to assist our SMEs include reducing regulatory burdens, streamlining program access and delivery, and offering incentives for job creation.
We are proud to state the Digby & Area Board of Trade, together with Government and local business, work together to ensure SMEs have the support they need to succeed.
02
Cost of Doing Business
Businesses in Atlantic Canada, including Digby & Area, are facing the challenge of increasing operating costs. High taxes, excessive regulation, and damaging inflation rates all contribute to the growing cost of doing business in Atlantic Canada.
Boards of Trade, together with Government have a major role in creating an environment for positive economic growth. At the Digby & Area Board of Trade, we advocate for the reduction of regulatory and financial burden on business.
At Digby & Area Board of Trade, we advocate for Government to actively reduce the burden on the private sector and lower the cost of doing business.
03
Access to Qualified Workers
The labour market in Atlantic Canada faces ongoing difficulties, requiring both an increase in workforce size and skill development. Failing to adequately prepare the workforce for current and future opportunities risks limiting growth and prosperity. Policymakers must prioritize pursuing growth rather than managing decline to navigate the foreseeable future effectively.
At Digby & Area Board of Trade, we encourage the enhancement of skills development and the increase supply of housing as critical markers to help resolve labour issues in Digby & Area.
