Kevin Ellis
President
Kevin Ellis serves as the President of the Digby & Area Board of Trade. A lifelong resident of Digby, Kevin has a deep understanding of the local business community and its growth challenges. His extensive knowledge and commitment to supporting businesses in the area have made him a dedicated leader within the organization. Kevin is passionate about fostering economic development and helping local businesses thrive, and he continues to be a driving force behind the Board’s initiatives.
David Cvet
Vice President
David Cvet, Vice President of the Digby & Area Board of Trade, holds a double major in biology and computer science from the University of Toronto. He began his career with six years of diabetes research at the Banting and Best Institute, which sparked a 25-year career in technology.
David’s expertise spans IBM mainframes, supercomputers, and advanced network computing environments. He played key roles in three technology startups in Toronto and Chicago, serving as Vice-President of Software Engineering and Chief Technology Officer.
Now retired from the tech industry, he owns and operates Wine Kitz locations in Digby, Yarmouth, and Bridgewater. As a long-time member of the Board, David is committed to fostering business growth in the Digby area beyond its traditional industries of fishing and tourism.
Anne Carter
Treasurer
Anne Carter is the Treasurer of the Digby & Area Board of Trade. A lifelong bookkeeper with a career in accounting, Anne brings extensive financial expertise to the organization. Originally from Ontario, she now calls Digby her home and is dedicated to supporting the local business community. With her passion for numbers and attention to detail, Anne plays a vital role in ensuring the financial health and success of the Board.
Karen Enright
Past President, Director
Karen's life has been deeply rooted in the culinary, arts, and music worlds, which shaped her early years before she pursued a career as a legal and insurance advisor. She has since spent several decades excelling in this role with an international company. Beyond her professional career, Karen co-owns and manages Casa Nova Fine Beverages, a renowned winery and cidery in Bear River.
Karen has been a dedicated leader in her community, serving in executive roles with the Digby & Area Board of Trade for nine years, including the past four years as President.
Since 2019, she has also chaired the Digby Area Tourism Association, where she works passionately to promote and grow the Southwest Nova Scotia region. A tireless advocate and ambassador, Karen is committed to fostering the area’s economic and cultural development.
Brendan Enright
Director
For over two decades, Brendan has called the Digby area home, embracing the region’s natural beauty and vibrant culture. As the co-owner of Casa Nova Fine Beverages, he wears many hats, including winemaker, cider maker, and vineyard manager. These roles allow him to channel his expertise and creativity into producing exceptional wines and ciders that reflect the unique character of our region.
Beyond Casa Nova, Brendan offer consulting services to wineries, cideries, and breweries, helping other businesses in the industry thrive by sharing insights into production, vineyard management, and operational strategies.
Deeply committed to the local economy and community, he actively works to promote the Digby area as a destination for food, drink, and culture. His passion lies not only in crafting fine beverages but also in supporting others in their entrepreneurial journeys, fostering growth and excellence in our industry.
Linda Weir
Secretary, Director
Linda has had a diverse professional career, holding various roles, including bookkeeping at a chartered accounting firm, serving as an HR Manager with IKEA, and working in Sales & Marketing for Oceanex. After relocating to Digby, she dedicated the past 28 years to the Digby Pines, specializing in Conference Sales, Services, and Catering.
Hospitality has been a true passion of Linda's, allowing her to connect with wonderful guests, collaborate with amazing colleagues, and work with clients and event planners on events ranging from corporate gatherings to weddings and family celebrations.
Outside of work, Linda cherishes spending time with her family, including her new great-grandchildren, and her beloved dog, Shine.
As she looks forward to retirement, she's eager to enjoy some well-deserved rest and relaxation, while also giving back to the community through volunteering.
The Digby & Area Board of Trade operates under the authority of the Boards of Trade Act (R.S.C., 1985, c. B-6), ensuring our commitment to transparency, accountability, and effective leadership. As a proud member of the Atlantic Chamber of Commerce, we are one of three officially recognized boards of trade in Southwest Nova Scotia, alongside the Chambre de commerce de Clare and the Yarmouth & Area Board of Trade. This governance framework allows us to provide valuable support and advocacy for businesses in our region.
